“Buddhist circuit package for 2011 “ 2010-07-02
The Himalayan Expedition (Himex) is soon to launch a Buddhist pilgrimage tour package entitled “Buddhist circuit”. This package is brought about for the promotion and development of Nepal’s major Buddhist destinations as a confederate for the upcoming Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
Two 42-seater deluxe shutter buses will be operating in preliminary stage and with the increase in arrival of tourists the service will also be increased.
Nepal and India Buddhist destination are combined in this package. The tour package is a ten day affair costing minimum of $30 per person.
The package will be officially launched in January. Himex president Bikrum Pandey said that Buddhism holds a 40 percent market share of the total tourist movement in Asia, and Nepal being a major destination could reap huge benefit if it was promoted and marketed.
According to him, the planned tour will begin from Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, and will go through Kapilvastu, Shravasti, Kushin-agar, Sarnath, Bodhgaya, Vaishali, Rajgius, Nalanda and Patna before returning to Lumbini.
