Nepal, UAE ties to grow 2010-06-29
For the first time, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are all set to establish a Foreign Ministers’ level joint mechanism.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala accompanied by senior Foreign Ministry Officials Dhananjya Jha and Arjun Panta left for UAE on Tuesday evening on a four-day visit. She will be meeting leaders of the UAE Chambers and Commerce and the Nepalese Community during her stay in the country. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed on different areas of cooperation between the two countries.
The MoU will mostly deal with expansion of trade between Nepal and UAE, tourism, attracting investment from UAE, foreign employment issues and more job opportunities to Nepalese in UAE. Thematic sub-committees will be set up to implement the MoU.
Mrs. Koirala will also formally request UAE officials to open its mission in Nepal as numerous Nepalese youth flying UAE seeking jobs face visa-related problems.
