The legislation was granted approved by the DDO Office, Kathmandu on July 11,2003 and Registration no is 1036/059/060.

The Federation will work towards effective lobbying with the government and non- government organization towards bringing about a social transformation for the women movement with necessary changes in the existing laws, creating awareness on the rights of the women, entrepreneurship development economic empowerment, and skill development.

Expertise, main activities and beneficiaries
FWEAN is the Apex body of various Women Entrepreneurs Associations in Nepal. The federation networks as a coordinating organization that supports the interest of women Entrepreneurs in Trade, Industry, Commerce and tourism sectors. The Women Entrepreneurs and SMEs are the primary beneficiaries.

Projects
Member of SAARC Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC). Initiated the SAARC Chamber Crafts Village (SCCV) project to support and expand operations of SMEs through increased access to local, regional and international markets with a budget of 97,997 (CD$) with support from Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Carried out project titled " Gainful employment opportunity for girls at high risk of trafficking and trafficking survivors" with WEAN Chapter in Lalitpur and Banke districts to empower women with skills and was supported by Asia Foundation with a budget of USD 66666/- over a 3 - year duration period.

Carried out "Income generating skills of disadvantaged women" project with WEAN Chapter in Lalitpur district to impart skills, which will further lead to enhancement of entrepreneurship project was carried out in 3 districts and targeted towards disadvantaged groups was supported by Ford foundation with a budget of USD 83,000 over 4 years.

Members of FWEAN worked with applicant for Asia Invest project developed in Nepal during February 2005 - 2006.

Income generation initiative for Bhutanese Refugee supported by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

About our organization involvement in SMElink project
FWEAN is involved in the smElink project by helping to identify the challenges and achievements of micro/small/ medium rural and semi urban entrepreneurs. Enhance the capacity of rural, semi urban and urban entrepreneurs help them to get better trade linkages regionally, nationally and internationally.

Program title: A Regional/ National Workshop
Location: 5 development regions of Nepal
(Eastern, Central, Western, Mid-Western, Far-Western)
Time frame: January- April 2008 (Phase wise workshops)
